Around the village
Storrington sits under the South Downs, with a compact centre and lanes running out into farmland and open country. The housing is mixed, from older houses and cottages that have been extended and rewired in stages to newer homes built among them. That mix decides what an electrician meets on arrival, because a property added to over decades rarely has one tidy, consistent installation sitting behind the fuse board.
Where a house has been divided into flats, or a room above a shop is let on its own, the electrics rarely follow the front doors. One supply may be split between the units, with the meters grouped away from where you live. Access is half the problem, because a board can sit behind a door belonging to somebody else. Testing shows whether a fault is inside your own flat or on the shared side.
Out on the lanes the questions change. A supply may need to run from the house to a garage, a stable, a workshop or a garden office, and a long run brings cable size, voltage drop, earthing and bonding and proper protection into the job. Outbuildings often carry wiring fitted for a lighter load than the one now on it. Damp, rodents and buried cable of unknown age are all things testing can turn up.
What we do
24/7Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a fast response across the South East. We make the installation safe first, then explain the repair and the cost before any work starts.

We specialise in finding and fixing electrical faults, tripping circuits and power loss. Faults are traced by systematic testing rather than guesswork, so the repair holds.
Learn more
Reliable installation and repair of internal and external lighting systems, from downlights and replacement fittings to garden, security and outside lighting.
Learn more
Full and partial electrical rewiring for houses and flats across the South East. Work can be staged room by room to limit disruption, and the property is left tested and certified.

New fuse boards fitted, also known as fuse boxes, consumer units or consumer boards. A modern board adds RCD protection and makes future faults far easier to isolate.

Supply, installation and testing of mains powered smoke and heat alarms, including interlinked systems for rented properties and new installations.
Learn more
Electrical Installation Condition Reports for rented and residential premises throughout the South East. We can arrange access with your tenants directly and return the report promptly.

Our in-house team can design, install, commission and maintain Solar PV installations of all sizes, covering the whole job from roof survey through to inverter and battery set-up.

The work is not all fault finding. Older houses reach the point where rewiring makes more sense than another repair, shops and small commercial units need testing and certificates, and landlords need EICRs before a tenancy starts. Fuse board replacement, extra sockets and circuits, lighting upgrades, smoke and heat alarms, charging points and solar installation fill much of the week in Storrington and the villages around it.
Every call runs the same way. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, every day of the year, nights, weekends and bank holidays included, and you are asked what has tripped, what still works and whether neighbours are affected. On site the circuits are tested rather than guessed at, the fault is isolated, and anything safe to restore is put back on. Emergency work carries a call out fee then an hourly rate, explained before work begins.
Planned work is quoted free and with no obligation, whether that is an EICR for a rented property, a fuse board replacement, a charging point on the drive or a solar installation, and prices are explained before anything is agreed. CK Electrical is family run and locally based in Sussex, Part P registered and fully insured, working to the current wiring regulations with certification supplied. Pulborough, Steyning, Washington and Arundel are covered as well.
Our process
You can call us at any hour, every day of the year, including bank holidays. In an emergency we ask what has stopped working and whether anything is hot, sparking or smelling of burning, and tell you what to switch off until we arrive. Booked work, from a landlord certificate to solar panels or EV charging, starts on the same call.
A Part P registered and fully insured engineer attends and makes the installation safe before anything else. Where there is a risk, the affected circuit or your fuse board is isolated, and anything that cannot be put right straight away is left in a safe condition. Planned work follows the same rule: circuits are proved dead before they are worked on.
We work from readings rather than assumptions. Testing can include continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance and RCD testing. The results show where a fault sits, what an installation can safely take, and whether a problem is inside your property or on the incoming supply, which belongs to the distribution network operator and is reported free on 105.
Before any repair or installation begins, we explain the options: what needs doing now, what can safely wait, and whether repair or replacement is the sensible choice. Quotes are free and carry no obligation, and nothing goes ahead until you agree the price, so there are no call-out surprises. If parts or a return visit are needed, we tell you then.
The same qualified engineers who took your call carry out the work, whether that is an overnight repair, a fuse board replacement, new lighting, smoke and heat alarms, a rewire, an inspection, solar panels or an EV charging point. It is done to the current wiring regulations, with cables and accessories fixed securely and neatly, and disruption kept to a minimum.
Before we leave, the work is tested and checked in operation, and the working area is left tidy. You are told plainly what was done and anything worth keeping an eye on. Certification is supplied where the work calls for it, so you hold a written record of what was carried out and the results of the testing.
